The Journey from Daydreamer to Doer: Making Your Dreams a Reality

September 18, 20253 min read

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A teacher? A singer? An astronaut? Maybe you dreamed about being on stage, writing books, or traveling the world.

For me, I was a daydreamer with a big imagination. I thought I’d grow up to be a singer. Later, I was sure it would be dance. But along the way, things didn’t always go the way I pictured.

I had auditions I didn’t make. Times when I compared myself to others and felt like I didn’t measure up. Eventually, I did what so many of us do—I told myself it was time to be “realistic.”

But here’s what I’ve learned:
👉 Dreams don’t disappear. They transform.

Today, I may not be performing on stage with music and dance, but I am standing on platforms—connecting, teaching, and inspiring. My love for creating, connecting, and leading never left. It simply showed up in a different way: through my work with private practice owners.

And that’s the beauty of dreams: they often come back to us in ways we didn’t expect.

Why We Dismiss Our Dreams

At some point, many of us put our dreams on the shelf. We convince ourselves that:

  • They weren’t realistic.

  • We’re not talented enough.

  • It’s too late.

  • Life got too busy.

But those dreams are still there. They’re part of who you are. And even if they don’t look exactly how you once pictured them, the essence of them—the part that lights you up—can absolutely be part of your reality today.

A Framework for Reconnecting with Your Dreams

I use my ALIGN framework as a guide for reconnecting with what matters most:

  • A – Awareness: Notice where you’ve been labeling your dreams as “unrealistic.”

  • L – Let Go: Release the pressure for them to look exactly like you first imagined.

  • I – Identify: What pieces of your dream still spark excitement?

  • G – Grow: Explore how those pieces might fit into your life and business now.

  • N – Navigate: Take one small step forward.

This is how you move from daydreamer to doer.

Your Dreams Are Still Possible

Maybe your dream of being a singer looks like teaching workshops, leading groups, or speaking on stages. Maybe your dream of being an artist shows up in the way you design your business or create experiences for your clients.

The details may shift, but the core of your dream—the part of you that’s always been there—is still waiting for you.

✨ Anything is possible. It just might show up differently than you expected.
